40.5 lb Sacramento River Striped Bass caught with Captain Brady in the spring of 2023!

Morone saxatilis, also known as striped bass, line sides or stripers, inhabit the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta including some of our Northern Californian rivers like the Sacramento River, the Feather River, and the American River.

Although the best fishing season for striped bass typically begins in April and ends in early May making the most productive guided striped bass fishing trips on the Sacramento River during that timeframe each season.

There are several great fishing locations up and down the Sacramento River, but our most productive trips often take place in the Sacramento River near Colusa, Ca. The striped bass here usually average 5 to 6 pounds in weight, but specimens between 20 and 30 pounds are caught here every year.

The sheer numbers of striped bass that run the Sacramento River during their spawning migration certainly are impressive, especially during the wet years. You won’t often hear our client anglers complaining that they got bored waiting for striped bass to bite on the Sacramento River when they are in the river to spawn.

The best part is that the excitement of seeing and feeling these fish fight for their freedom is doubled by the amazing table fare they provide. Many anglers decide to take their catch home with them and have developed their own delicious recipes.  Fish tacos are our favorite!

Since striped bass are so easy to catch when they are present in good numbers, it makes for a great fishery for both novice or skilled anglers. Families, co-workers, or just a group of friends looking for fun and adventure will appreciate this action packed fishery. Limits can be quickly obtained some days, but in some cases we will often continue to fish "catch and release" to give our clients a full day experience until they have retained their catch limits.  Whatever your profile, all you need is a friendly and skilled guides, and you’ve found the best team on the river to get the job done!
